If Jesus Christ truly is the highest authority over Pennsylvania, then it follows that homosexual marriage should be abolished. In His discourse on divorce, Jesus defines marriage as the union of one man, and one woman.

He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Mat 19:4-6)

From the beginning, when God first created marriage and family, His design was always to have one man and one woman united together. This is one way in which mankind reflects the image of God to the rest of creation, and it is that image of God in man that makes us different from the beasts. The reason why it is wrong to murder people (such as preborn children) is the same reason why homosexual marriage is wrong — because both crimes deface the image of God in man, showing our hatred for God.

Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image. (Gen 9:6)

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply…” (Gen 1:27-28a)

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. (Lev 20:13)

Clearly the Bible treats homosexuality with significantly greater severity than our modern society, viewing it as a capital crime. As someone who has actually committed acts of homosexuality in my youth, I have no problem affirming the biblical view that homosexuality is among the greatest atrocities demanding the greatest punishment; it undermines God’s design for marriage and the family, eroding the foundations of a strong society.

Decriminalizing sodomy and sodomite marriage are among the greatest mistakes Pennsylvania has ever made. Whatever the punishment for murder is in Pennsylvania, sodomy should receive equal punishment. I don’t believe God is interested in retroactive punishment for sodomite crimes committed in this time when the state departed from the word of God (though I would be willing to give my life to see it end). Rather, He is more interested in repentance and forgiveness than judgement and wrath. However repentance requires us to confess our sin, to stop celebrating great evils like sodomy, and to restore the standard of right and wrong which once protected us from His wrath. Otherwise our state will continue piling up wrath until He is forced to judge us for our corporate sin.

My Platform: REPENT

Find the love of God through repentance and trust in Jesus Christ

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. (Jhn 3:16-19)
